Thurston County is poised for attracting industries that pay living-wage jobs. I want to identify and attract businesses that can better the lives of the people who live here, and better preserve our resources. One way I propose to do that is by positioning the Port to service public works such as broadband internet and clean energy investments. I also want to support local business incubation and incentives.
We need to be preparing for a future that’s proactive, responsive, and fair. One way we can do that is by getting the Port to join the Cities of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, as well as Thurston County, in activating the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan. I also plan to incentivize clean energy and encourage the restoration of the Deschutes Estuary and Budd Inlet.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
As an ally and hopefully your public representative, I will fight for a more inclusive tomorrow. It’s imperative that the Port has measures of accountability and transparency in place to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices. Growth can be uncomfortable. Together, we can handle uncomfortable.
